For no real reason, America Online (AOL) have released a compressed file containing information on over 20 MILLION search engine queries from 650,000 users over the past three month period.

This has to be the worst thing they have ever done since they founded back whenever Al Gore created the Internet. I am currently downloading this from a reliable source and will use some clever regex equations to find some interesting data. Because AOL are a super friendly company and care about customers, they have replaced their reference to customers with a “random” integer (eg, below, 418887) – I wonder how long before this is cracked?

It’ll be interesting to see how many people search AOL for their name, email address, social security/national insurance number or credit card number.
